On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me . . .
This beautiful collection features twelve gorgeously romantic stories set during the festive period, by some of the most talented and exciting YA authors writing today. The stories are filled with the magic of first love and the magic of the holidays. (summary from Goodreads)
My True Love Gave to Me is a lovely anthology of Christmas and winter holiday stories that is sure to delight.
Perkins has put together a great anthology of stories by many favourite YA authors. While each story focuses on the theme of Christmas and/or winter holidays, there's a mix of contemporary and fantasy. Many had a quirky quality to them that I really enjoyed. A lot of the contemporary stories were relationship and romance themed, some "meet cutes", and for the most part they're lighthearted and joyous. I found myself often grinning while reading these stories. The fantasy stories had a whimsy to them that appealed to me. Something a little darker and otherworldly. They were quite the contrast to the contemporary stories. I liked that best about My True Love Gave to Me. There is a romance and magic to the Christmas season that each of these stories captures. I'm not going to rate each story, because again, I think anthologies work as a whole. I will say that I have a couple of favourites, including
My True Love Gave to Me is the anthology to wile away some hours with...especially during the winter holidays!
