Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

Publisher: Tor Teen
Published Date: 5 January 2016
Pre-Order: Amazon | The Book Depository | Dymocks Australia

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.
(summary from Goodreads)

Apparently this is a much talked about, much coveted "it" book, so my only question is...where have I been? Hiding under a rock?! Today is the first I've heard of it, and yes, I want it. I've decided to share it just in case I'm not the only one oblivious to this book!

What upcoming release are you desperate to read?

  1. Oooh sounds interesting! May have to give it a read.

    Here's my WoW:

    1. That it does! :-) Thanks for stopping by!

  2. This was one of those books at BEA that everybody wanted, but only 100 arcs were available. Great WOW pick.

    1. That's something along the lines of what I read when I first saw this book. Those 100 people who got their hands on a copy are very lucky! Thanks, Grace.

  3. I can't wait for this one either! It sounds so amazing.
    Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian

    1. Yes, it does! And such a wait, urgh. ;-)

  4. Ahh, I'm super excited for this one too! I loved Susan Dennard's other series, so I can't wait to read Truthwitch! I love all things fantasy, and the cover is so pretty too!

    1. I haven't read anything by Dennard yet, but obviously I'm going to have to change that. I'm really looking forward to this one for its fantasy elements too. :-D
