Feature & Follow Friday: ARCs Wanted

Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Rachel over at Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. This is a chance to get to know fellow book bloggers and have them meet you. Be sure to pop over and meet this week's featured bloggers!

If you could get an ARC of any book, what would it be?

Illuminae Black Widow: Forever Red

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff or Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl. I would do almost anything to get my hands on an ARC of either of those books. I am not opposed to silly dares, servant duties, begging, trading, stealing, selling my soul...need I go on? They're both due out October which is oh so close and yet oh so far! Please hurry up, October!

And now I'm sad I don't have these books. I'll be over there, eating ice cream, pining...

What ARC would you do almost anything to get your hands on?

Top Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Book Nerds

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme started over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they have a specific topic for a top ten list. Link up, visit some new blogs and add to your ever growing TBR list! This week's topic is:

Top Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Books Nerds
They love to read, are writers, work in bookstores, etc

Harry Potter Fangirl The Wolves of Mercy Falls The Book Thief Matilda

  • Hermione from the Harry Potter series - Of course Hermione tops my list. She's the greatest book nerd ever!
  • Cath from Fangirl - I think most of us can see a bit of ourselves in Cath. She adores the Simon Snow series and is a talented writer.
  • Sam from The Wolves of Mercy Falls series - Oh, Sam. He was actually one of the first book nerds I thought of. He makes me want to read more poetry. And it's been a while, but I think he worked in a bookstore?
  • Liesel from The Book Thief - Liesel's love of books and stories is inspiring.
  • Matilda from Roald Dahl's Matilda - There cannot be a list of book nerds that does not include Matilda, right?

Magonia The Babysitter's Club Pride & Prejudice Kissing in America Lux

  • Aza & Jason from Magonia - These two are very well read and so full of knowledge. Reading Magonia I came to the conclusion that I need to read so much more.
  • Mary Anne from The Babysitter's Club - This is going a long ways back in my memory, but I'm pretty sure Mary Anne is a book nerd? Stacey was always my fave because of her love of fashion but if I were to reread this series now, it'd likely be Mary Anne. Well, all of the Babysitter's are awesome, right?
  • Elizabeth Bennett from Pride & Prejudice - I'm still waiting for my Mr Darcy to come along and spy me reading...
  • Eva from Kissing in America - Eva sprang to mind for her love of romance novels. That was me in high school...okay, and today, still. Romance forever!
  • Katy from the Lux series - I'm including Katy because I adored her in Obsidian, with her love of reading and her being a book blogger. Granted, I'm not the biggest of her fans anymore, but she still rocks as a book nerd.

So which fictional book nerds made your list? Let me know so I can read about any I haven't been introduced to yet!

The 1989 Book Tag

As I've never done a book tag before and I do adore Taylor Swift and her 1989 album, I decided to join in the fun! I saw this tag over at Krystianna's awesome blog, Downright Dystopian. The 1989 Book Tag was created by Charnell at Reviews from a Bookworm, who is celebrating multiple milestones. Be sure to pop over and join the party!

Like Krystianna, I'm simply tagging anyone who sees this and thinks they'd like to give it a go! If you do, please comment with a link to your blog so I can check out your answers.

Two Boys Kissing
Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan, which is a gorgeous and heartfelt read. Levithan is a Master of words.

If I StayIf I Stay by Gayle Foreman. I cried and cried reading this book. It'll stay with me forever.

The Winter People
The Winter People by Rebekah L. Purdy. That cover is stunning. The blue and her eyes. I loved it the moment I saw it. Can't say the same for the book though. It was hardcover and I wanted to slam it against my forehead so many times while reading it.

FangirlThat'd have to be Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It was like reading about myself sometimes and she is just so sassy. Cath made Fangirl for me.

Wuthering Heights
I'm going to go with Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I loved it so much when I read it in school and it's been ages since I've reread it. But it's one that sticks with me.

Daughter of Smoke & BoneLaini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I felt like I'd been transported to Prague, Morocco and Elsewhere. I loved every moment of it.

Vanishing Girls
Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver. I realised what the twist was just before it was revealed, but it was still so interesting how Oliver handled it.

Red QueenOh, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. How everyone raved about you, and how it seemed you were going to be so much more...but no. I still liked you, but how it could've been love!

That would be Divergent by Veronica Roth. I can't even be bothered to finish this series. I know a lot of people hated the third book, but I'd reached that point with book two.

TickerIt's really not a case of "everyone" seems to hate it, but it's all I can think of at the moment. When I read Ticker by Lisa Mantchev, there were a lot of 1 or 2 star reviews, plus a number of DNF's. Me though, I adored this book. So much fun!

The Day After Forever
The Day After Forever by Erin Skiffington. I read this book for the first time in high school and it still impacts me just as much today. It will always be on my favourite list.

IlluminaeAmie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff's Illuminae! I would do almost anything to get my hands on a copy of this book right now. Steal it. Sell my soul. Name your price!

Lux Series
This is probably one of the hardest to answer as nothing springs immediately to mind. I've decided on Katy from Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series, and I feel guilty just typing it. But at the moment she's the only one that comes close. Hate is too strong a word, but I loved Katy in Obsidian, and then was so very disappointed with her in the second book, Onyx. I haven't wanted to continue the series because I'm so upset that I no longer love her.

Nicholas Sparks. That man has made me cry much too much. I always said I'd run over his toes if I ever met him...and like a dork, I told him that when I met him. He thought it was funny, but did tuck his feet away from me!!

We Were Liars
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. Right from the very beginning I knew what the truth was, so this book didn't have the same effect on me. But I did love Lockhart's writing style.

Harry PotterThis one's easy! Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, of course. It saddens me that it's already been 8 years since the last book was released. I want to live in this world forever and ever.

The Agency
There's so many, but I'm going to go with The Agency series by Y.S. Lee. When James and Mary finally got together I was a swooning mess. I just adore them!

Life of PiYann Martel's Life of Pi. The truth shattered me. I was a bawling mess for ages after I finished this book.

The Masque of the Red Death
A couple sprang to mind, but I'm choosing The Masque of the Red Death by Bethanny Griffin. Starting this book I was all in. The writing was so, so good, but the story and characters just became...well, urgh, is an apt description.

I don't have a particular answer for this. Honestly, anything that has a sex scene, I guess? I read erotica here and there but get all blushy when I read it in public. I'm a big fan of slash fanfiction, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it, but anytime I'm reading in public I try to hide my screen or I look around to see who might be looking. It's a weird thing of mine and it's so silly! I know I'm not the only one though, which I guess is good...but I really just need to own it!

This has happened more than once, unfortunately, and it's my own fault. I usually read the first book in a series and then wait until the rest are released before continuing. Or at least, that's the plan, but there's heaps I still haven't got to! Like Marie Lu's Legend series. As it stands, I've forgotten a lot of Legend and will have to refresh my memory before finally finishing this series.

Shatter MeI'm sad to say it's Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I loved it so very much but I doubt I'll ever finish the series, knowing what I do about Juliet and Warner. I'm glad to have been spoiled, because if I'd put time into reading it I'd have been so much more disappointed than I am now. Books would have flown! Yeah, I am not Team Warner in any way.

Phew! That was a workout! Don't forget, if you take part in this tag, please comment with a link to your post so I can check it out. And hey, while we're chatting Taylor Swift...are you a fan? What's your favourite song? I love All To Well from her Red album, but it's probably Blank Space or I Know Places from 1989.
