Bout of Books Read-A-Thon Challenge: Character Face-Off

Bout of Books

It's Day 2 of the Bout of Books Read-a-Thon and time for another challenge! Today it's a Character Face-Off, hosted by Lulo Fangirl.

Here's what you need to know:

Create the ultimate character face-off.

Pick two of your all time favourite characters. They can be from the books you've chosen for the read-a-thon, or not, totally up to you.

Even though they are both your favourite, you HAVE to choose one as the winner. And tell me why. Sell me on why this ONE character is your favourite of ALL characters.

Sounds easy enough, right? Shyeah. That's why I've been thinking about it for ages. Picking favourites is hard work. There's just so many and I'm honestly feeling guilty picking just two, let alone one ultimate winner! It's such a fun idea though, so here goes...

Get ready to RUMBLE...sorry, I couldn't resist.

Our first challenger is the one and only LOLA from Stephanie Perkins' Lola and the Boy Next Door! I loved Lola from word one. Her name, her attitude, her style. She doubts herself a lot but pushes through it with her awesome outfit creations every day. Plus her relationship with Cricket is swoonworthy.

And then there's the wonderful MARY from The Agency series by Y.S. Lee! Oh, how I adore Mary. She's smart and tough, and life has not been easy for her, but she's become such a clever and fierce detective. Though sometimes she's a little too reckless, unnecessarily putting herself in danger. And again, her relationship with James is swoonworthy.

How will I ever decide?!

Okay. The winner is...

MARY! It helps that there's four books through which to get to know Mary. I enjoyed every single mystery and adventure with her, so she has to be my favourite. There's a vulnerability to Mary, to go with the kickass attitude and skill, and I truly loved getting to know her. Then there's the Victorian Era aspect that I've always enjoyed, and the added challenge that poses for Mary as a character. Plus her relationship with James had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Yes, Mary is definitely my winner.

What two characters would you have face-off? And who would win?
