Q. Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story? If so, which one??

Seriously, I don't think I can answer this one. I've been browsing my books and my Goodreads list, and none come to mind. Sometimes I might like a villain, but always I find myself cheering for the heroes. Tessa Gratton's Blood Magic is something like this. I love Josephine, as a character. Bitch is crazy as, and she leapt off the page! But I never, ever wanted her to win. There's also the times the villain changes somehow to become more of 'the good guy'. Here I'm thinking of someone like Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse series...or well, True Blood, as I have yet to read the books. Seems a villain to begin with but not so much these days, yeah?

Not a very inspiring answer! I guess my answer is simply no, I haven't ever wanted a villain to win!

  7. I think it is a good sign that Josephine was a character that you were interested in reading about but that didn't mean you wanted her to win. Kudos to the author because that is not always an easy balancing act.

  8. I don't really think I would want a villain to win, but it's nice when they come close, and then lose.

  15. @Shanan, The Book Addict Yes, definitely, Shanan! Sometimes the villain can come across as more frustrating than interesting, you know? Gratton earns major points for Josephine! :-D
