Armchair BEA Day 1: Introductions

I am so late for this! I only signed up recently, and I figure I'll be more of a spectator, having never participated in something like this before. I reckon the timezone differences make this one a bit of a struggle for me, but it's so interesting that I plan to do the best that I can!

For those of you not aware of Armchair BEA, you can go here to check it out! Still time to join in the fun too!

So now to introduce me and my blog!

Well, the basics. My name is Kim, though I go by Baggins (thanks to my Dad!) I'm 27 years old and living in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I'm a librarian (currently not working though) and student, studying towards a Master of Arts in Children's Literature. I'm actually in the process of researching my dissertation, which is a tad nerve-wracking! I spend my free time reading and watching TV & movies. I love to travel. My favourite places are Paris, New York & Washington, DC. I hope one day to see the whole world. Though I can't see how I'd ever be able to leave behind the best things in my life - Finnigan, my gorgeous West Highland White Terrier, and Jackson, my beautiful nephew. They literally light up my world!

I've loved books and reading all of my life. Both my parents are hugely into reading, and they've passed that on to me. As a child books were both a bribe and a reward!! They were also a source of comfort. I remember having nightmares and then reading The Babysitter's Club by lamplight to calm down! My favourite books are The Day after Forever by Erin Skiffington and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I also adore everything by Nicholas Sparks. I'm a big fan of Regency romance and find myself turning to such books when I need to switch my mind off and just relax. These days I read mostly YA, and everything that entails - paranormal romance, contemporary, dystopian, fantasy, historical, and more. I love it all.

You won't see it much on this blog, but anyone who knows me knows I love TV and movies as much as I do books. Quite simply, I love to lose myself in other worlds. I'm a big Joss Whedon fan, so Buffy, Angel, and Firefly top my favourite list (I also loved Dollhouse, just not quite as much). My non-Whedon favourite show is Supernatural. Every week you will also catch me watching Castle, Chuck, Bones, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Glee, Leverage. Honestly, I watch and love a lot more (like Merlin, Sanctuary, Eureka, Psych, Stargate...the list goes on!) but those shows I try not to miss. I won't even begin to mention movies! But it's much like my books and TV shows - I love a lot! I grew up in a small town with no cinema, and only recently moved to the city - you'll find me at the cinema at least once a week now. Enough said, right?

I started Baggins's Book Blabber simply out of interest. I've been following book blogs for a while and figured why not give it a go? I like expressing my thoughts about what I read, and I find it helps to have something fun for me to focus on outside my studies that still feels worthwhile, you know? I admit however that I am a procrastinator. Big time. If I mustn't be distracted, I guarantee I'll find some way to be. In this way, my blog is still new because as we all know, it has to be worked on constantly! I do love it though, and I have high hopes for it. I especially just love the book blogging community - it's fun and so welcoming. I hope to make many friends!! So if you're new here, please say Hi!

I hope to take part in as much as I can of Armchair BEA from the comfort of my study! Hopefully I'll get to meet a few new bloggers! Enjoy your week!
